Tattoo Aftercare for Your First Tattoo Over 40

I shared about the great experience I had getting my first tattoo at Sorry Sorry Tattoo in Seattle with Raychelle Ordonez here.

As we wrapped up our appointment, after oooohing and aaaahing and taking a few photos, Raychelle left us both with proper aftercare instructions for our tattoos. I was concerned about my aging skin and any extra care that would be needed. We were also heading to Bumbershoot the next day, so we knew we would be outdoors. We needed all the tattoo care tips.

Here are the instructions provided by Sorry Sorry Tattoo, and the supplies we used to care for our new tattoos:

It’s only been a couple of weeks, but my tattoo seems fully healed to me. I did experience some peeling within a few days after getting the tattoo, I was glad for the warning that this was normal. I continue to wash, moisturize, and keep my new tattoo under a sleeve when I’m in the sun, but there is absolutely no pain. I haven’t experienced any soreness at all since the day after I got the tattoo. If any fear of pain or a long healing process is stopping you from getting the tattoo you’ve always wanted, don’t let it. The beauty of this piece was worth the temporary sting.

Thank you again, Raychelle.
