Majestic Bay Theater is using UVCUE Technology for Clean Indoor Air

The question about the summer of 2023 will not be whether or not you saw The Barbie Movie. That question is answered by over $1 Billion in theater ticket sales. No, the question instead will be, “Where did you see The Barbie Movie.”

Team Peterson picked the family-owned Majestic Bay Theater in Ballard for our family outing to see The Barbie Movie, and I’m so glad we did. Along with the gorgeous nautical boutique feel of this Triplex on Market Street, Majestic Bay Theater is using UVCUE Technology for clean indoor air.

Just ahead of showtime, the waterfall curtain rose and two members of the Alhadef family greeted us onscreen to explain the newly added Upper Room UVGI system, Since 2020, like many others, our family has limited our indoor activities so that we could limit our exposure to Covid-19. This UVCUE technology sounds interesting, and we find out it is one of the strategies supported by King County Public Health for improving indoor air quality. It’s used in many public buildings around Seattle, including the Seattle Space Needle.

How does it work?

“Upper room GUV works by flooding the upper room with germ-killing ultraviolet light to rapidly inactivate airborne pathogens. All known pathogenic microbes contain either DNA or RNA and are susceptible to GUV.” - Dr. Edward Nardell, Harvard Medical School

The Majestic Bay Theater continues to make upgrades for the safety and enjoyment of its movie-loving guests. The curtain rose again for the main attraction and we settled into our comfy seats with our favorite concessions to watch The Barbie Movie together.

Whether it’s pivoting business practices in response to a worldwide pandemic, or in response to guest feedback, it is important to stay in touch with what is most important to your ideal customer. Addressing and removing barriers, like concerns for safety, are a great way to build confidence in your guest and have them share their experience with others.

I’d love to know the ways you’ve been impressed by small businesses in Seattle.
